| Fly ash from O+H |

Modern architecture of the 19th century saw itself as opposition to traditional construction methods. New materials such as concrete, iron, steel and glass opened up the door to spectacular structural possibilities. Tradition and avant garde are reflected in the annex of the military museum in Dresden. An angular steel structure combined with glass and fair-faced concrete embedded in the old museum wing forms a construction history document. The architect, Daniel Libeskind, has created a building which is intended to stimulate thought. The whole floor of the old building, 9,000 m² in total, is fair-faced concrete quality. The colour of the mineral aggregate was precisely specified. Experts in the region found a gravel from the River Elbe with a grading range of 0 mm to 8 mm to match the specifications. The colour, structure and compressive strength were achieved with cement CEM II BM 42.5 N-AZ. O+H delivered certified fly ash from the Czech Republic with the required quality and colour as the concrete additive. To prevent process-induced colour variations, extensive quantities of fly ash were kept in stock in our silo installations. |
